Multi-GPU will get even rarer in the future than it already is as NVIDIA has removed this option from its GeForce RTX 2070. With the introduction of Pascal, NVIDIA removed SLI from its GeForce GTX 1060 series, and now word is going around that the new NVLink will be exclusive to the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti.
The official website also claims that NVLINK is only supported by RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. Official Founders Edition pictures and first aftermarket RTX 2070 design from Gigabyte, also indicate that NVLINK experience will not be available under 699 USD.
The reason why is unknown, but it's likely a business decision to remove multi-GPU entirely from everything but the upper high-end. The real question is, do sufficient gamers care about multi-GPU?
