Shadow of the Tomb Raider will hit retail shelves on September 14, 2018. Over at Gamescom, Eidos released a new trailer that showcases the special features of the PC version. The most special technology here is support for Real-time Ray Tracing, which will finally be available to the general public with next month's availability of NVIDIA's Turing-based GeForce RTX video cards.

Eidos says Ray Tracing will be added to Shadow of the Tomb Raider via a post-launch update.
will feature Native 4K resolution, HDR, High-Quality Anti-Aliasing, Proven Ambient Occlusion and many other high-end features on PC at launch! Thanks to our partnership with NVIDIA, Ray Tracing technology will also be added in a post-launch update.

The bad news is that even the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti seems to have trouble running the game at 1080p. Folks who saw the demo running with a FRAPS overlay report the game ran between 30-70fps. For most of the demo, Shadow of the Tomb Raider achieved 40fps, but in more challenging scenes the framerate dropped as low as 30fps. That's at a Full HD resolution, which is probably not what you want to use in combination with a high-end video card.

Eidos responded to the performance figures by pointing out that this feature is still an early work in progress:
