Windows 10 October 2018 Update is causing quite a lot of problems. Besides the file deletion issue, which is now fixed, there are also reports about task manager problems, Internet connectivity issues with modern apps, BSODs, and now also audio issues.

The latter was caused by the installation of the wrong audio driver. Microsoft accidentally pushed Intel Audio Controller version 9.21.0.3755 to the wrong devices for a short period last week, and that's causing the audio issues. The software giant pushed out another update via Windows Update to resolve the problem it introduced last week.
Windows Update KB4468550 now removes the driver automatically from systems that received it incorrectly.
