Intel's continued inability to deliver its 10nm process is resulting in a major shakeup in the firm's manufacturing arm. Word is going around that the chip giant will break its manufacturing unit in three pieces:
  • Technology development, led by Mike Mayberry, head of Intel labs. Rich Uhlig will run Intel Labs on an interim basis.
  • Manufacturing and operations, led by Ann Kelleher, who had been running the technology and manufacturing group with Ahmed.
  • Supply chain, to be run by Randhir Thakur.
  • All three units will fall under the oversight of Venkata "Murthy" Renduchintala, Intel's chief engineering officer.

The article from OregonLive also mentions that Sohail Ahmed, who jointly led the manufacturing group since 2016, will retire in November.
