Apple launched some new products yesterday, including a new 13.3" MacBook Air with fingerprint scanner and 2560 x 1600 pixel display, a new Mac Mini series with up to six-core Intel CPUs and up to 64GB RAM, and a 11" and 12.9" iPad Pro refresh.

There was also a new 15.4" MacBook Pro and this laptop captures our attention because it features AMD Radeon Pro Vega 20 and AMD Radeon Pro Vega 16 graphics options. This marks the first product launch of AMD's Vega Mobile, as it seems AMD did not manage to convince any other PC makers to pick up Vega Mobile.

Both Radeon Pro Vega parts are still made on a 14nm process FinFET process and feature 4GB HBM2 memory. According to Apple, these new graphics options offer a 60 percent performance increase versus the current generation, which uses the Radeon Pro 560X.

The Radeon Vega Pro 20 features 20 CUs, which results in a total of 1280 shader processors. It has a 1300MHz Boost and features 1.5Gbps HBM2 with a 1024-bit memory bus. Next is the Vega Pro 16, a cut-down model with 16 CUs (1024 shaders), 1185MHz Boost, and the same 1.5Gbps HBM2 with a 1024-bit memory bus. Will be interesting to see how these chips perform.

The new MacBook Pro laptops will ship in November.
