RIM to launch BlackBerry 8700 within weeks?

BB Hub heard RIM may be developing a BlackBerry 8700. This device is codenamed Electron and will be broadband-capable, with EVDO for Verizon, BB for SprintNextel and EDGE for Cingular.

Features of the 8700:
  • built-in GPS
  • built-in instant messaging client
  • 64MB RAM
  • native attachment viewing (rather than needing third-party solutions)
  • The BlackBerry 8700 is not Wi-Fi or VoIP compatible and won't feature a digital camera either.
