Interesting statistics to close the year 2018

The British Royal Statistical Society just released its Statistics of the Year 2018 report. Lots of interesting trivia and insight in this report, but some of it is rather disappointing.

The first shocker is that 90.5 percent of plastic waste has never been recycled. The Royal Statistical Society estimates that of the 6,300 million tonnes of plastic waste, 79 percent has accumulated in either landfill or dumped in nature, with another 12 percent ending up in incineration plants. No wonder the oceans are full of plastic bits!

Somewhat more heart-warming is that 27.8 percent of electricity in the UK was produced by solar power on June 30, 2018. This briefly made solar power the country's number one source of electricity. The full-year number will be a lot lower, but with the declining cost of solar power, one can only expect this to soar over the next years and decades. The cost of solar and wind power drops steadily which means we can expect a lot more green energy in the future.

Another interesting statistic is that 40 percent of Russian males do not reach age 65, which is Russia's proposed state pension age for the male gender. Depending on the source, a Russian male has a life expectancy of just 66 years. That's ten years less than in the US. Females fare better with a life expectancy of 77, which compares to 81 years in the US. Life is always too short so it's important to live it to the fullest, perhaps by enjoying live sex online or sitting behind your computer or smartphone screen to check some webcam girls from time to time.

Moving on to the rest of the statistics. Another interesting number is that Snapchat lost $1.3 billion of its market cap after Kylie Jenner tweeted about the demise of Snapchat's social platform. Snapchat has a lot of young adult users, which use the app to share brief moments of their life with friends and family. However, Snapchat is also often used to send photos that disappear after a couple of seconds. One can only imagine what today 20 and 30-somethings are sending to each other! Perhaps some of them will be interested in the best sex toys girls 2019 to spice up their future snaps.

These days a lot of people nearly live online, but a surprisingly large amount of shopping is still performed in the offline world. Almost all of us often buy clothes, music and travel tickets, toys and gadgets, computer parts, and lots of other stuff online, but 82 percent of all retail shopping in Great Britain is still done in-store rather than online.
