Cooler Master brings V Platinum and XG Gold Advanced PSUs to CES

Posted on Tuesday, January 08 2019 @ 13:30:38 CET by

Within a couple of months, we can expect the V Platinum and XG Gold Advanced power supplies from Cooler Master. The V Platinum PSUs will arrive in March and will feature 850W, 1000W and 1300W units with prices ranging from $199 to $299. The XG Gold Advanced will follow in May and will feature 550W, 650W, and 750W models, but the pricing of these units is still unknown.
Cooler Master, a leading manufacturer of desktop components and peripherals, today announced two new lines of Power Supply Units (PSU) that will be available in the first half of 2019.

Cooler Master V Platinum
The V Platinum series joins Cooler Master’s high end PSU lineup. Equipped with 100% Japanese capacitors, an 80 PLUS Platinum efficiency rating and wattage levels of 850, 1000 and 1300, the V Platinum will provide enough power and stability for any heavy gamer, content creator or overclocker.

A built-in rail switch allows users to change between multi and single rail power output settings for more stability or efficiency depending on PC configuration and use scenario. The built-in Thermal Regulation Mode (TRM) of the V Platinum regulates the temperature of the PSU by slowly increasing the fan speed when temperatures increase, maintaining a comfortable unit temperature and minimizing noise output. This full-modular PSU comes with thicker, 16 AWG PCIe cables and a 10-year warranty for years of powerful performance.

Cooler Master XG Gold Advanced
Unveiled at Computex 2018, the XG Gold Advanced is the first generation of PSUs fully designed by Cooler Master’s in-house engineering team. It’s unique digital, LED panel displays PSU load, fan speed and temperature in real time. The XG Gold Advanced will be available in 550, 650 and 750 Watt levels, is fully-modular and comes with high efficiency 16AWG PCIe and CPU cables. In addition, the 135mm FDB fan is equipped with RGB lighting and is compatible with AURA SYNC. Backed by a seven-year warranty, the XG Gold has an 80 PLUS Gold efficiency rating and a continuous operating temperature of 50°C.
CM V Platinum

TechPowerUp got to see the XG series at CES 2019 in Las Vegas and reports these models have a very clean PCB. Cooler Master got rid of all the redundancies that are typically used in PSU design to compensate for lower quality components, as the firm switched to fewer but higher-quality parts. Furthermore, Cooler Master also adopted DC-to-DC switching to get rid of the separate switching stages for +5V and 3.3V, and switched to fewer but higher-capacity wiring. All this results in a much cleaner interior, which offers better airflow.

CM XG Gold interior very clean wow
