Word is going around that NVIDIA will tap Samsung for its next-generation Ampere GPUs. Taiwanese tech site DigiTimes claims NVIDIA's 2020 GPU refresh will be made by Samsung on a 7nm EUV process.

This news already made the rounds about half a year ago. I guess we'll learn more in the coming months, but it would definitely be a surprise if NVIDIA exclusively uses Samsung as the company has a very long relationship with TSMC.

So far, Samsung has been struggling to find clients for its foundry business so if NVIDIA uses it for a high-volume product it would be a big win for the South Korean company's foundry unit.
