Samsung shows PCIe 4.0 SSD that does 7.2GB/s

At AMD's EPYC "Rome" launch event, Samsung teased its upcoming PM1733 PCI Express 4.0 solid state disk. This new model is aimed at the enterprise market and is roughly double as fast as the PM1723b, which uses PCI Express 3.0.

According to Samsung, the PM1733 achieves read speeds of up to 7.2GB/s and write speeds of up to 3.62GB/s. The disk will be offered in capacities of up to 30.72TB and there's also support for dual-port PCIe, which allows simultaneous connections with two hosts.

The Samsung PM1733 utilizes 96-layer TLC NAND flash memory; Pricing and availability is unknown.
