Microsoft issued KB4497165, this update features Intel microcode updates for several older processors, including Haswell, Valley View, and Cherry View, but also Gemini Lake and Apollo Lake. The update is installed automatically via Windows Update and offers protection against the Microarchitectural Data Sampling (MDS) side channel vulnerability in these processors. Newer Intel processors already received the fix.
Microcode updates are delivered to offer protection against the following flaws:
CVE-2019-11091 – Microarchitectural Data Sampling Uncacheable Memory (MDSUM)
CVE-2018-12126 – Microarchitectural Store Buffer Data Sampling (MSBDS)?
CVE-2018-12127 – Microarchitectural Load Port Data Sampling (MLPDS)
CVE-2018-12130 – Microarchitectural Fill Buffer Data Sampling (MFBDS)
