Industry sources say TSMC has bought 30 hectares of land in the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) for the construction of its 3nm EUV wafer fab. Initial work on the construction is expected to start later this year.

Volume production at the 3nm fab is expected to commence in 2023.

TSMC's 5nm node is expected to hit mass production in Q2 2020. The Taiwanese foundry recently said that the ramp of 5nm is projected to be the fastest in the company's history. Revenue generated by 5nm is expected to ramp even faster than 7nm.
