A slide that was reportedly shown during an ASUS presentation sheds some light on Intel's server CPU roadmap for 2020. In Q2 2020 we can expect the 14nm Cooper Lake-SP, which will feature up to 48 cores according to this slide. This may be outdated information considering Intel already confirmed the existence of a 56-core Cooper Lake chip.

The leak also reveals that the 10nm Ice Lake-SP will follow in Q3 2020. That series will reportedly feature up to 38 cores. Tom's Hardware has more details over here.
Cooper Lake-SP and Ice Lake-SP reside on the Whitley platform. Both support dual-socket configurations, eight memory channels and DDR4-3200 modules. However, only Ice Lake-SP parts are compatible with second-generation Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory.
