Yesterday we wrote about rumors that Apple is planning to launch at least six devices with Mini LED technology in 2020. Now we hear that various other device makers are planning to equip laptops with Mini LED in 2020. DigiTimes
reports the supply chain is gearing up for this:
Many China-based vendors as well as Apple reportedly are considering equipping their new notebooks with mini LED backlighting in 2020, the sources noted.
For the substrate used in mini LED backlighting module, flexible PCB (FPCB) and ultra-thin PCB are the two major choices at the moment with each having its own advantages, the sources noted.
Apple MacBook's backlighting has always been built on FPBC with Taiwan-based makers including Flexium Interconnect and Career Technology having been suppliers previously, said the sources, adding that FPCBs at the moment still have a majority share in the notebook backlighting market.
