KitGuru pulls our attention to UnCiv, an open-source remake of Civilization V. The latter is one of the best-selling 4X strategy games ever, with sales of over 8 million. Despite being 10 years old, the game still has over 20,000 Steam users playing it daily.

UnCiv doesn't have the same sort of visuals as the latest installments in the Civilization V series though, it uses an early 90s pixelated look. The gameplay mechanics on the other hand are designed to be similar to Civilization V.

It's a work-in-progress, various features are still missing. This open-source strategy game can be downloaded over here for Windows and Linux. There is also an Android version, which you can get via the Play Store.
