Samsung pulled the wraps off its 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD at CES 2020. This new flagship consumer model will hit the market in Q2 2020.

This is the first PCI Express 4.0 consumer model from Samsung and it promises read speeds of up to 6.5GB/s and write speeds of up to 5GB/s. It's unknown whether this disk uses TLC or MLC NAND flash memory. Samsung will offer the 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB capacities.

This may make it one of the fastest models on the market. At least until the arrival of disks based on the Phison E18 NVMe SSD controller, which allows read and write speeds of up to 7GB/s.
