Ardmore School Districs victim of Nigerian scam

The ARdmore City School District fell victim to a Nigerian scam and lost a total of $179,000.
Now, the FBI, Ardmore Police, and the Postal Service are trying to figure out: How did a check made out to Dell Computers for $179,000 end up with a lady in Hillsborough, Michigan?

Police don’t know if the check was taken from the mail before it left Ardmore or when it reached Dell Computers.

”Generally, the scam is done with either forged or altered money orders, fake money orders or cashiers checks, in this case it just so happens it was a real check they altered,” said Lt. Eric Hamblin, Ardmore Police Department.
Fortunately the money will be returned but this proofs once again that some people need better education. Read more at Kten.
