Zalman reveals the S5, a new white mid-tower case with a clean, modern look. Price at just 49.90EUR, this is one of the better looking budget cases if you're in the market for a white case. Here's the press release from Zalman (Google translated to English because they send it in German):
The white, elegant ZALMAN S5 Midi-Tower impresses with, among other things, a clean, modern look, a side part made of four millimeter thick, tempered glass and cleverly positioned RGB lighting effects. These not only skilfully stage the left area of ??the front panel, but also achieve an exclusive effect on the perforated plate strip positioned on the front. ZALMAN's 465 x 212 x 398 mm (H x W x D) measuring S5 is compatible with the mainboard form factors ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX, offers seven PCI bays and holds up to 163 mm high CPU coolers as well as a maximum 340 mm long graphics cards. Two 3.5 or 2.5 inch drives find shelter in a hard drive cage, which is accessible from the right and hidden in the power supply tunnel. In addition, the housing offers four further mounting options for 2.5-inch hard drives or SSDs: two each can be attached to slides on the back of the mainboard tray and above the power supply tunnel. When delivered, the maximum power supply length is limited to 190 mm. If you need more space, you can do this by removing the hard drive cage in front of it. The special strengths of the ZALMAN S5 include two special solutions. The right inside of the housing has a hinged additional cover in the front area, which is used to hide connection and power cables. The manufacturer comes up with another, unusual approach with regard to radiator assembly. A 240 mm copy can be found in a conventional position under the cover, but then the maximum usable memory is limited to 35 mm. As an alternative, ZALMAN includes a bracket for vertical installation, the use of which not only allows the use of higher RAM modules, but also knows how to set visual accents: in this case, the fans of the radiator, which is up to 65 mm thick, are located behind the tempered glass side panel and can spray additional RGB charm on request. Already in the delivery state, the housing has a front and a rear 120 mm fan, which work at a speed of 1100 rpm. The model in the rear of the case also integrates an RGB lighting effect. The ZALMAN S5 holds a total of up to eight fans and offers space for two additional 120 mm models on the front, on the power supply tunnel and on the top. In addition to alternative screw-on points for 140 mm fans, the housing cover also features a magnetic dust protection filter. On the connection side, the ZALMAN S5 has one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, jack sockets for headset and microphone, an on / off and reset button and a control button for the RGB lighting elements. The effects include 16 lighting modes, the rear fan and the RGB strip on the front can be controlled synchronously or switched off.
