NVIDIA rolls out the first publicly available driver with support for DirectX 12 Ultimate. The new GeForce 450.82 DirectX Ultimate Developer Preview Driver can be downloaded on NVIDIA's developer site. This driver lets developer test their applications with Microsoft's DirectX 12 Ultimate API, it's not intended for general use. This GeForce 450.82 driver includes DXR Tier 1.1, Sampler Feedback, and Mesh Shaders support.
DirectX 12 Ultimate is Microsoft’s latest graphics API, which codifies NVIDIA RTX’s innovative technologies first introduced in 2018, as the cross-platform standard for next-generation, real-time graphics. It offers APIs for Ray Tracing, Variable Rate Shading, Mesh Shading, Sampler Feedback, and more, enabling developers to implement cinema-quality reflections, shadows, and lighting in games and real-time applications.
DirectX 12 Ultimate will be part of the next version of Windows 10, which is expected to be available next month.
