Gigabyte reveals three new AORUS gaming laptops with mechanical keyboards, these use OMRON switches. The laptops come with an Intel 10th Gen Core i9 processor and RTX 2080 SUPER video card.
GIGABYTE, a leading developer of PC enthusiast products, is shipping its latest version of AORUS professional gaming notebooks, which boast significant upgrades including a new AORUS chassis design, mechanical keyboards, the most current CPU/GPU generations, and a footprint that’s half the weight and thickness of competing models.

The AORUS 17X, AORUS 17G and AORUS 15G come equipped with 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i9 CPU, NVIDIA® RTX 2080 SUPER™, 240Hz refresh rate display, international tournament standard display specifications, and GIGABYTE’s exclusive WINDFORCE Infinity cooling technology, AORUS lets gamers experience gaming in the highest graphic settings. With over eight hours of battery life and a complete set of I/O ports, AORUS laptops are prized by even top tier esports teams such as G2 Esports.

The laptop market has in recent years, become the ultimate battleground for major laptop manufacturers. Every year, new models come out with the latest and fastest CPUs and graphics cards. However, regardless of CPU and monitor upgrades, players who emphasize the feeling for the hands are always disappointed by laptop keyboards. GIGABYTE’s pro esports brand – AORUS brings mechanical keyboards into play and is dedicated to making laptops more compact than ever while being a pleasure to touch and use.

By partnering with world-renowned Japanese mechanical switches provider – OMRON, GIGABYTE’s new AORUS line features mechanical keyboards with 0.063 inches actuation point and sensational tactile feel. The register speed of AORUS laptop keyboards are 20% faster compared to those of normal laptop keyboards, giving users a crucial in-game advantage. With the AORUS 15G weighing in at 4.85 pounds and less than one inch thick, it is 51% lighter than other laptops carrying mechanical keyboards and is 50% thinner. As the world’s lightest and most compact mechanical keyboard laptop, the AORUS 15G aims to be a true professional and portable gaming laptop.

Why are the current mechanical keyboard laptops pricey and not commonly seen on the market? Aside from its expensive price, mechanical keyboards utilize independent mechanical parts in order to maintain tactile feel and accelerate signal transmission. Blue and brown switch keyboards adopt a key height of 3mm to 4mm, and provide feedback that membrane keyboards with the key height of only 2mm will never be able to match. That is why mechanical keyboards are relatively thick and heavy, weighing around 3.31 pounds, and this is another reason why laptop manufacturers are reluctant to produce mechanical keyboard laptops. It was not until 2015 that manufacturers started producing mechanical keyboard laptops. The result was a 4.56 kg, 5mm thick laptop that cost a fortune. There was a lack of progress in the thickness and weight of mechanical keyboard laptop development until GIGABYTE launched its AORUS 15G.

Starting prices for the series are: AORUS 17X $2,399, AORUS 17G $1,799 and AORUS 15G $1,699.
