AMD and NVIDIA to launch new gaming GPUs in September?

While NVIDIA introduced its Ampere GPU architecture last week, there was no specific word about the arrival of gaming variants. September is a date that's been floating around and now DigiTimes backs this up by claiming not only NVIDIA but also AMD is planning to release new gaming GPUs in September. The site also notes video card makers are expected to cut pricing of current-gen products to stimulate demand in Q3 2020. So far, demand this year has reportedly been higher than expected as at-home entertainment like gaming received a big boost from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first half of a year has been usually the slow season for graphics cards, but this year the coronavirus pandemic-triggered stay-at-home needs has shored up demand. With AMD and Nvidia set to launch their next-generation GPUs in September, graphics cards vendors are expected to cut prices for older-generation products, stimulating demand further in third-quarter 2020.
