A rumor hit the Internet that Google is working on "Prince", this is said to be the codename of a Nest-branded device aimed at competing with the Sonos One smart speaker. There are not a lot of details, but to compete with the Sonos One the device would need larger speaker drivers. Prince is reportedly display-less, with a fabric-based design like the other Nest speakers, and it will feature the typical Google Assistant integration.
On the software side of things, we’re told the device will feature the usual Google Assistant that powers the company’s other smart speaker products. We’re not aware of any unique software capabilities, but it would be wise to assume it will build on the existing functionality. Features like stereo speaker pairing — originally shown off with its sibling the Google Home Max — will likely appear here too.
In terms of features and pricing, the "Prince" device will fall between the original Google Home and the Home Max. A launch is expected this fall at the earliest.
