Compared with the consumer-class Threadripper, the PRO line has an eight-channel memory controller (vs four), support for 2TB memory (vs 256GB), and 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes (vs 64). The clockspeeds are lower though.
The Threadripper PRO series will support up 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, a double of what the consumer series supported. More changes are coming to the memory support. The Threadripper PRO series will support up to 2TB of UDIMM (Unbuffered DIMM), RDIMM (Registered DIMM), LRDIMM (Load-Reduced DIMM) and 3DS (three-dimensional stacking) RDIMM EEC memory.Four models are expected to be revealed on July 14th.
Similarly to Ryzen PRO, Threadripper PRO will feature AMD PRO Technologies, such as Pro Security, Pro manageability, or PRO business ready (software stability and planned availability).
