Phone charging is getting faster than ever as companies are cooking up new technology to make long recharging times a thing of the past. Chinese phone firm Oppo is in the picture again this week as it created a 125W phone charger that it claims is able to recharge a 4000mAh phone battery in just 20 minutes.

That's around 10 minutes faster than Oppo's previous record. With just five minutes of charging, the charger can restore the battery to a level of 41 percent.

The phone that supports 125W charging doesn't exist yet, it's unknown when Oppo will release such a device. At the moment, the company's fastest-charging device can be fully charged in 31 minutes, according to The Verge's testing:
Oppo hasn’t announced a phone that will ship with this technology yet, but it often announces features like this before commercial products. The current fastest-charging phone in the world is the Oppo Reno Ace, which has a 4,000mAh battery that in my testing I could fully charge in 31 minutes with its 65W charger.

At the same time, Oppo also showed a 65W AirVOOC wireless charging solution. Just like with the 125W wired charger, it's unknown when this will ship.

Last year, Vivo showed 120W charging tech that could allegedly recharge a 4000mAh battery in just 13 minutes, but that product is still not available.
