DigiTimes backs up an earlier rumor that Apple is looking to diversify the production of its iPhone to India. As one of world's largest phone vendors, Apple already uses multiple companies to assemble its device but now it also wants more geographic diversification outside of China.

Apple diversifying production risks: India could become a major production base for iPhone following a recent shakeup in Apple's supply chain in the form of Taiwan-based Wistron selling two of its China plants to Chinese maker Luxshare, according to industry observers.
Pegatron is expected to set up shop in India to manufacture iPhones for Apple. India has a large number of skilled citizens that speak English, which has made it a popular destination for IT outsourcing. Up until now, production of electronics in India has been limited due to issues with distribution and the lack of a local ecosystem. China still has a lead here, but it seems efforts to produce in other countries are gaining traction.
