One more day to go until the official Ampere announcement from NVIDIA. In the meantime, a cryptic post from Twitter leaker Yuko Yoshida suggests NVIDIA's GA102 GPU will have 34.5 billion transistors. For comparison, the current-generation GeForce RTX 2080 Ti has "just" 18.6 billion transistors. If the leaked number is accurate, this means NVIDIA's new flagship gaming GPU has almost double the transistors of the Turing generation. We've already seen that the GA102 is quite a big chip so a large number of transistors is to be expected. We should find out more tomorrow.
