Word is going around that NVIDIA's new Ampere-based video cards offer quite a performance boost for cryptocurrency mining. TweakTown picked up whispers that the GeForce RTX 3080 may offer a performance level of 115MH/s for Ethereum mining. That makes the card three times faster than a RTX 2080 for this specific job. If this is true, the Ampere GPUs may become quite popular in places with cheap electricity costs.
Just how fast is the RTX 3080 at Ethereum mining? Well, we're looking at a rumored 115MH/s from the GeForce RTX 3080, which is 3-4x faster than the 30-40MH/s or so that the Turing-based GeForce RTX 2080 is capable of.
