Highpoint has a new line of PCI Express 4.0 SSD controllers. The SSD7540 ships today for $999 and has eight ports for PCI Express 4.0 SSDs. TweakTown points out you can use this to achieve a storage bandwidth of up to 28GB/s on PCI Express 4.0 motherboards!
The new SSD7540 can take any PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 SSD at up to 8TB capacities, and up to 8 of them, to provide a simply insane 28,000MB/sec (28GB/sec) transfer speeds. You could install 8 x 8TB drives for 64TB in a single PCIe 4.0 x16 slot pumping away 28GB/sec. I don't even have words.
Next month HighPoint will ad the SSD7580, which is a variant that uses U.2 SSDs. Theres also the SSD7505, this $599 model takes four M.2 SSDs.
