MSI has started distribution of BIOS updates that add support for Resizable BAR on Intel's 400-series chipset. Beta versions for the Z490 motherboards will be available this week and the first updates for B460 and H410 motherboards should arrive by mid-December. Before the end of this month, MSI aims to have updates for all B460 and H410 motherboards.

Resizable BAR enables a small performance boost on platforms that support it. The feature was introduced by AMD during the firm's Radeon RX 6800 presentation under the marketing term "Smart Access Memory". It's a part of the PCI Express specification though, so every platform that has hardware support for it can support it. As it turns out, there are more Intel processor generations with Resizable BAR support than AMD chips that support it. Pre-Zen 3 designs from AMD don't have the necessary hardware support for Resizable BAR.
As a world-leading motherboard brand, MSI contributes to providing gamers and creators extremely pleasant experience when users choose MSI motherboards. For the sake of fulfillment of goals, MSI keeps updating the latest version BIOS for users to download and to increase performance.

At the present, MSI prepares to release BIOS update for all Intel 400-series motherboards, including Z490, B460 and H410 chipsets. According to planning schedule, the first batch is expected to Z490 motherboards. All BIOS update for Z490 will be available by this week. As for B460 and H410 motherboards, the BIOS update will be completely released in the next two weeks. Please follow the product pages for the updated BIOS.

BIOS Update for Re-Size BAR Can Enhance System Memory
The key function of BIOS update is to support Re-Size BAR. Re-Size BAR is a platform approach for more performance. It can encourage the system to access the VRAM on the graphics cards and take use of full capacity. After testing, the function operates well.
