The conclusion is that most Z590 motherboards are about 20-30EUR more expensive than their predecessor. Part of the price increase is attributed to PCI Express 4.0 support, which has higher requirements like more PCB layers and more or better components. Furthermore, the industry-wide shortage of certain components, the increased shipping costs due to COVID-19, and other factors likely also play a role.
Z590 motherboards are expected to hit retail shelves within a couple of weeks. Intel's 11th Gen Core "Rocket Lake-S" processors will debut in March, these will not only be the last LGA1200 CPUs but also the last 14nm desktop processors. The Z490 motherboards should be compatible with Rocket Lake-S after a BIOS update.
Tweakers.net claims various manufacturers have ceased production of Z490 motherboards. It's believed these models will quickly disappear from the market once the Z590 hits the scene.
