Samsung ready to announce 5nm EUV fab in Austin

TechPowerUp picked up news that Samsung will construct a 5nm EUV semiconductor fab in Austin, Texas. The facility will cost $18 billion and will be located close to Samsung's existing 14nm Austin factory. According to the report, an official announcement is expected later today, during a White House meeting with South Korean President Moon.
An official announcement to this effect will be made later today, when South Korean President Moon and U.S. President Biden are scheduled to hold their first Summit meeting, in Washington DC. The facility will offer third-party contract manufacturing of semiconductor chips on the 5 nanometer EUV process.
The 5nm EUV plant in Austin is expected to be operational in 2024.
