There is a lot that needs to be perfect in order to become an eSports professional and one that can be amongst the elite competition that already exists within the industry.

Of course, many of the best will be competing in the biggest competitions that regularly take place on the calendar, with 2022 hosting tournaments such as CS:GO, Call of Duty, Dota 2 and League of Legends; competitions that will be huge and provide a number of the best sports betting and odds opportunities available to punters who continue to place wagers on the incredible tournaments that take place.

However, whilst being able to play the game at an elite level is just one part of being a top eSports professional, players will be amongst the first to tell anyone that they need to have the very best gaming peripherals possible, as well.

A number of pros were spoken to in order to achieve an insight into what they looked at, which produced the following results:

Personal Preference

One of the biggest things that were revealed by the gamers was that there is not a “one size fits all” approach that can be adopted, as each individual may be more comfortable with a different tool or style of design compared to each other.

Naturally, there will be differences of opinion between professionals, although many will also quickly state that it is all down to how comfortable a player is with the setup that they have, whilst some will immediately state that it is important to replicate a tournament environment at home to help them prepare, including through the use of certain equipment.

Mechanical Keyboards

When starting to discuss the types of gaming peripherals that would have to be considered extremely important and allowing for eSports players to be able to perform at an elite level, mechanical keyboards are amongst the top of the list for many.

These keyboards are different to standard keyboards in the way that the keys are made. Mechanical keyboards have their keys designed in a way where they are separate from each other, thus allowing gamers to be as tactile as possible when making decisions, as the keys are highly responsive, as well.

Membrane keyboards - otherwise known as traditional QWERTY keyboards - are designed in a different way, with each key closer together that allow for common use, such as general everyday typing. However, with gaming requiring precision and error-free experiences, it is rather obvious that they are not built right for the situation, whilst they can also be a little uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time, as well.

Mice and Headsets

Unsurprisingly, headsets and mice will also appear on a list of extremely important gaming peripherals that need to be considered highly, whilst they also need to be able to do the task required in an expert fashion.

Again, with so many different options available on the market, it will come down to personal preference and continued use to ensure that the device chosen is right, with no answer providing a single correct option.

With mice, there are a number of different factors that need to be considered, which could all ultimately depend on the type of game that is being played. Elements that need to be considered include DPI (dots per inch), weight, switch, sensor type, skates, whilst the material of the cable (if connected) can also play a part in how a mouse performs. Furthermore, considerations such as the surface on which the mouse will be mounted should be thought of as this can have an impact.

Whilst a gaming mouse and a gaming keyboard can help to further enhance the overall gameplay by providing players with a more responsive experience, there is no doubt that the audio provided can provide a greater immersive experience and make players feel completely involved with the game being played.

This is where headsets have become incredibly important, as they will provide players with exceptional sounds that can be enjoyed, whilst they can also be used to communicate with other players, which is vital and something many will state is a non-negotiable when it comes down to finding the best headset available.

Be prepared

Although a number of top peripherals have been mentioned and outlined, one of the best things a player can do is to be as prepared as possible with the equipment that they have, especially before going into a competition.

With each tool potentially being different for each competitor, it is clear that there is a lot that needs to be done in regards to the thought process, as well as the application of each device.
