Flat panel TV sales booming, but who benefits?

Posted on Monday, November 21 2005 @ 23:10:28 CET by

The market for LCD and PDP TVs is booming amid ramping LCD panel capacity and falling prices for panels as well as system products. In addition to first-tier home appliance makers, such as Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Royal Philips Electronics, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, second-tier and traditional IT vendors are eying the fast growing market, and competing on price with the more established market leaders."

With 50% of all television sales expected to be LCDs by 2009, this is certainly a trend to follow. Many companies which are not traditional television companies, like ViewSonic, have been doing a great job of getting into the game with competitively equipment products.
