Flat panel TV sales booming, but who benefits?

The market for LCD and PDP TVs is booming amid ramping LCD panel capacity and falling prices for panels as well as system products. In addition to first-tier home appliance makers, such as Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Royal Philips Electronics, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, second-tier and traditional IT vendors are eying the fast growing market, and competing on price with the more established market leaders."

With 50% of all television sales expected to be LCDs by 2009, this is certainly a trend to follow. Many companies which are not traditional television companies, like ViewSonic, have been doing a great job of getting into the game with competitively equipment products.
