DigiTimes reports Samsung launched the new D608 sliding phone in Taiwan three days ago to compete with Motorola's A732 handset.

The company aims to ship over 10 million units of the D608, which includes a two megapixel camera and a 262,000 color LCD display.
For the Taiwan market, Samsung aims to ship a total of 800,000 handsets for all of 2005 and boost the volume to 1.2 million in 2006, Jeon said, as quoted by a November 22 article in the Chinese-language Commercial Times.

In addition, Samsung is also evaluating introducing its slim-type SGH-P300 handset into the local market in 2006 to compete with Motorola’s V3 lineup, the paper noted, quoting sources at Samsung Taiwan.
