Quake 4 1.05 dual core patch ATI vs NVIDIA performance

Posted on Tuesday, December 27 2005 @ 22:25:17 CET by

AMD Zone continues to test the dual core patches for Quake 4 and Call of Duty 2. Today they have updated our exclusive Quake 4 benchmarks to add results from ATI’s X1800XL in comparison to the 7800GT numbers we previously have. Also added to the testing is the registry fix for Nvidia drivers with dual core support. Results are interesting as to which GPU architecture gets a leg up.

Now with ATI's drivers with dual core support we see a much better result. Now we go from increases in the teens to approaching 50% at the lower resolutions. Then we see performance increase drop off at 1280X1024 and then at 1600X1200 we see an actual decrease in performance.. Read on over here.
