Howto: Canon PowerShot S45 not recognized in Windows 7/8?

Upgraded your computer to Windows 7 or 8 and found out that you can no longer transfer pictures from your Canon PowerShot S45 (or other Canon cameras) to your PC because there's no Windows 7/8 driver available?

There's a simple way to make it work:

First make sure the camera is not connected to your computer.

Activate the camera and press the "Menu" button.

Go to the "Tools" menu and navigate to "Communication"

Change this setting from "Normal" to "PTP"

Windows should now be able to recognize the camera's CF card.
