Firefox 3 browser has the best memory management

Posted on Saturday, June 28 2008 @ 05:21:24 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Dot Net Perls compared the memory usage of Safari 3.1.2, Firefox 3.0, Flock 1.2.2 (Firefox 2 based), Opera 9.5 and Internet Explorer 8. Based on hours of testing they conclude Firefox 3.0 delivers the best memory usage while Safari 3.1 on Windows shows extremely poor memory management. You can check out the full results over here.
    Safari 3.1
Safari on Windows shows extremely poor memory management, and I do not know whether it ever reaches a high water mark. If this is by design, it is certainly a design that looks inefficient and seems to contradict Apple's marketing.

    Firefox 3.0
This browser exhibits memory usage that is by far lower than the others. It releases memory to the system and the trend line is nearly flat.
