Research data released by Nielsen indicates the old Sony PlayStation 2 is still the most used console. The research firm published console usage data that covers the period from January through October, and there are some pretty interesting findings.

The PlayStation 2 is the most used console, accounting for 31.7 percent of the total usage minutes. The Xbox 360 takes the second place with 17.2 percent, and even though the Nintendo Wii has the highest sales of the next-gen consoles, it captures just 13.4 percent of the console usage minutes.

The old Xbox console conquers 9.7 percent of the console usage, which is pretty embarrassing for Sony as the PlayStation 3 consoles manages to grab only 7.3 percent.
