DigiTimes reports TSMC is looking to ramp up 16nm production ahead of schedule. The foundry just entered risk production of its 16nm FinFET process and expects to kick off volume production within one year.
TSMC revealed previously that it would initiate volume production of 16nm FinFET chips in the first quarter of 2015. Liu also indicated that TSMC is set to enter volume production of SoC chips built using 20nm process technology in January 2014.

In addition, Liu disclosed that TSMC's 28nm processes will generate revenues of as high as US$5.4 billion in 2013. The node is expected to account for about 23% of TSMC's total wafer sales in the year.
