Chinese hardware maker Colorful teases its new C.B250A-BTC PLUS V20, a custom-design motherboard for cryptocurrency miners. The board has a non standard length of 485mm and is 195mm width, meaning it will require a big rack.

This motherboard is designed from ground up for Ethereum (or other altcoins) mining, it features eight PCI Express x16 slots and has a lot of room between the slots. That's the main selling point of this model, it makes it possible to use double-slot video cards without having to use risers. Only the topmost slot is actually PCI Express 3.0 x16, the other seven slots have just one lane but that's no problem for mining.

As the name suggests, the motherboard is based on the Intel B250 chipset and it supports one LGA1151 processor. Other aspects of the layout have also been optimized for mining, there's just one DDR4 SODIMM slot, one SATA port, one mSATA port, two USB ports, one HDMI port and one Gigabit Ethernet connector. No unnecessary features like audio or a bunch of extra I/O, just the bare essentials.

The power delivery on this board is pretty extreme though, Colorful dropped the 24-pin ATX plug and replaced it with sixteen six-pin PCIe power connectors to get enough juice to the video cards! Pricing and availability is unknown, but odds are low you'll see this outside of Asia.
