Well this is quite interesting. It's not a very recent change but someone noticed PNY changed its warranty guidelines as the company experienced issues with cryptocurrency mining.

Basically, PNY claims that due to a huge increase of inappropriate use of NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics cards they're no longer able to provide a warranty on those products. The company blames this on activities such as (but not limited to) cryptocurrency mining, data mining, and mining farms.

This doesn't sound legal as it conflicts with the EU's rule on a two-year warranty. But it does mean that getting PNY to honor your warranty may be a lot harder than before.
