Where it gets even more interesting is that Musk reveals he tried to sell Tesla to Apple during the "darkest days of the Model 3 program." These days Tesla is trading at sky-high valuations and is flush with cash thanks to several recent capital raises, but a couple of years ago the electric car maker was struggling to make ends meet.
Musk said he reached out to Apple CEO Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple acquiring Tesla -- but Cook wasn't interested in setting up a meeting.
During the darkest days of the Model 3 program, I reached out to Tim Cook to discuss the possibility of Apple acquiring Tesla (for 1/10 of our current value). He refused to take the meeting.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) December 22, 2020
