Dell XPS M1530 unveiled

I received a new folder from Dell this morning with their latest promotions for small & medium businesses. To my surprise the folder listed a notebook that hasn't been officially launched yet: the Dell XPS M1530.

The XPS M1530 is the 15.4" brother of the 13.3" XPS M1330 and seems to be about 50EUR more expensive than a similary-configured M1330. The M1530 base configuration is priced at 849EUR in Belgium (excl. shipping and VAT) and the notebook weighs only 1.98kg (4.37 pound). According to the ad the XPS M1530 has a battery life of 8.7 hours but that seems over-optimistic.

Here's a look at the specifications of the 849EUR XPS M1530:
  • Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz processor
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • 1GB DDR2 memory
  • 160GB HDD
  • 15.4" TrueLife widescreen LCD display with 2MP camera
  • NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS 128MB graphics card
  • DVD+/-RW Drive
  • 1 year Business Day On-Site Service
  • The T5250 processor and 1GB memory don't look too impressive but if you're willing to spend a bit more money you should be able to get a more powerful system. Availability is unknown but it shouldn't take too long.

Not to burst your bubble, but that's a photo of the 1330, not he 1530. I'm guessing an error on behalf of Dell. The 1530's keyboard does not take up the entire base, and has metal bits along the sides.

Indeed, the ad uses a photo of the M1330.

maybe it is a 15.4" screen in a 14.1" form. just like how fujitsu put 14" into a 13" case. doable. the keyboard could also be slightly bigger than m1330's.
