writes AMD is going to use GDDR5 memory from Samsung to fill the supply gap caused by the insolvency of German memory maker Qimonda:
AMD is planning to adopt Samsung Electronics' GDDR5 memory to fill in the supply gap caused by Qimonda's bankruptcy in April, according to a Chinese-language HKEPC report citing the company.
Since most of AMD's high-end graphics card memory chips were sourced from Qimonda, the bankruptcy of Qimonda created concern to graphics card makers, added the report.
