VoIP providers must provide 911

The FCC today ordered VoIP providers to give users full access to emergency calling services.

"This situation is simply unacceptable," said FCC Chairman Kevin Martin. "Anyone who dials 911 has a reasonable expectation that he or she will be connected to an emergency operator."

The requirements will go in force within 120 days, in October. More details at Reuters
