Irregardless of how the events will unfold in future, we can presently say one thing for sure: we haven't seen such a situation for a long time, when Intel has practically nothing to oppose to the AMD challenge in terms of the top x86 processor performance in the most promising vector of its development (both companies have agreed upon multiple cores being this vector). We haven't seen it since Pentium 4 Willamette. But let's hope that the company will come up with something like "the second Northwood": I think that even AMD zealots wouldn't like to see this company alone in the sector of high-performance multi-core x86 CPUs.
