Personal snootiness aside, now that I’ve had the time to test the Creative’s SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic (oi!), I’m singing quite a different tune. Without getting too in-depth with all the technical backstory, the X-Fi has been in development at Creative for about four years all-told, and ran the company $100 million to produce. The X-Fi chip itself is built on a 130nm process, features 51 million transistors (the Audigy 2 has 4.6 million) and operates at 400MHz..
