So what kind of solution fits the bill for home use? Well, an all singing all dancing, active directory supporting, RAID 5 sporting beast is perhaps a little over the top. On the other hand, a USB 2.0 external hard drive passed from PC to PC, or shared via 1 computer to the rest of the network, isn't the epitome of convenience. What we need is a middle ground. Something relatively simple, but with enough features to make it worthy of being a standalone device that you can tuck away somewhere and plug it into your home network, or maybe even your small/home office.
