Athlon 64 FX53. Review

In conclusion the Athlon 64 FX53 is indeed an improvement on performance as expected with a 200MHz bump. Did it come later than we expected? Certainly, but did AMD have to have it sooner? Likely not with Intel stumbling on 90nm with Prescott. Some would argue however that AMD should get as large of a performance lead as possible, and others will be upset that the FX51 will not be dropped in price, but instead phased out completely. For the time being if you want the fastest computer on the planet, and you want 64 bit, then the Athlon 64 FX53 is that CPU. If you want similar performance, but don't want to spend that much look to the 100 Opteron series, or the Athlon 64 non FXs if you don't need the dual channel memory the FX or Opteron provides.
