Pioneer Electronics focuses its television efforts on plasma display panels (PDPs) and nothing else. The 50-inch Pioneer PDP-5050HD ($9,000 list) is considered a more affordable alternative to the company's Elite line of plasmas, while still offering many of the core technologies that make the latter so visually desirable. Increased competition among the flat-TV manufacturers is rewarding consumers with lower prices, however, and the PDP-5050HD remains one of the more expensive options available..
